Germany Fishing Licence (Fischereischein) Photo Requirements 2026

The Fischereischein is the fishing licence you receive from your local authority (Ordnungsamt / Fischereibehörde) after passing the fishing exam (Fischerprüfung). It requires a passport photo of 35×45 mm; in most places an ordinary passport photo is enough and it does not have to be biometric. Because fishing law is set by each federal state, exact requirements can differ locally.

  • The licence is issued by the local public authority after you pass the Fischerprüfung.

Glasses are discouraged. If worn, no reflections on the lenses, no tinted lenses, and the eyes must be fully visible. Thick frames covering the eyes will be rejected.
