Brazil Passport Photo Requirements 2026
A Brazilian passport photo must be 50×70 mm on a plain white background. The head — chin to crown — must measure 32 to 36 mm. The Polícia Federal applies these specifications to passports and the RG (national identity card). The CNH driving licence uses a smaller 30×40 mm format.
Documents covered
The same official specification applies to all of the following documents:

Country-specific notes
- Brazil uses an unusually large 50×70 mm format — larger than most countries.
- The CNH (driving licence) uses a smaller 30×40 mm format with different rules.
- In practice, the Polícia Federal often takes a new photo at your appointment — bring two printed copies in case of system failure.
Common rejection reasons
These are the most frequent reasons passport offices reject submitted photos.
- 1 Photo is the typical 35×45 mm size instead of the Brazilian 50×70 mm.
- 2 Background is not pure white.
- 3 Wide smile or showing teeth.
- 4 Glasses cause glare on the lenses.
- 5 Photo is older than six months.
- 6 Head tilted or not facing the camera.
