Schengen (C) visa: 15 calendar days is the legal standard, extendable to 45 days for additional checks and exceptionally up to 60 days. Germany is one of the faster Schengen issuers — 5–10 business days is typical in low season at most consulates. National (D) visa: 4–12 weeks routinely, longer where the Ausländerbehörde must be consulted (employment, family reunion). Skilled-worker D visas processed under the accelerated procedure (beschleunigtes Fachkräfteverfahren) can be cut to 3–4 weeks.
